Lucknow: The Christian community in Lucknow observed All Souls’ Day with deep faith, devotion and prayers, remembering departed family members and ancestors at Nishatganj Christian Cemetery and Gora Cemetery in Mall Avenue.
A large number of Christian families visited the two cemeteries throughout the day, paying tribute to their departed loved ones by cleaning graves, offering flowers and wreaths, lighting candles and holding special prayers for the eternal peace of their souls.
The Lucknow Christian Burial Board (LCBB) made special arrangements for the occasion, including cleanliness, maintenance and other facilities to ensure that visitors could pay their respects in a peaceful and dignified atmosphere.
J. J. Joseph, Secretary of the Lucknow Christian Burial Board, said that All Souls’ Day is observed across the world on November 2 every year. The day is dedicated to remembering and praying for those who have passed away.
He said the occasion is not merely about remembering departed family members but also about preserving family bonds, honouring ancestors and keeping alive the values of love, faith and spirituality.
Joseph said the board had ensured that both Nishatganj and Mall Avenue cemeteries were properly maintained and prepared for the occasion so that families could offer prayers without inconvenience.
He also appreciated the efforts of board members, employees and volunteers who contributed to the cleanliness, maintenance and arrangements at the cemeteries. He appealed to the community to remember them in their prayers as well.
People from different age groups visited the cemeteries with their families, offering floral tributes and remembering their loved ones. The observance created an atmosphere of reverence, peace and spiritual reflection across both locations.
